Founded in 2008, the School of Art + Design joined with the New Jersey School of Architecture to form the College of Architecture and Design at the New Jersey Institute of Technology. The new School absorbed the two-year old Industrial Design program and added three new programs: Fine Arts, Digital Design, and Interior Design. The degree of Bachelor of Science in Industrial Design was first awarded at NJIT in 2010. exhibited/presented sustainable innovative work at the first two Earth Day Education Fairs in New York City. At the same time, award-winning faculty who are active and engaged professionally – and who work with these students – have introduced new products to market, created spaces featured in magazines and on television, exhibited artwork in galleries, curated international exhibitions, won furniture design and photography competitions, received awards for teaching, are active in a host of professional and academic associations, and have published and presented articles in significant journals and at international conferences where they participate in advancement of design fields. Together the students and faculty form a community of designers and scholars who work towards positive change for our local and global environments.
